The wind swept a hat off an old man’s head. The man was Mr. George R. Caldwell. A man of great honor, to some. Mr. Caldwell was hurrying back to his home in Cambridge when he saw an unbelievable sight. To many this event was a great happening, but to Mr. Caldwell he thought it was blasphemous. He saw men dressed as Indians chucking wooden crates into the murky waters below. Mr. Caldwell yelled at them to stop but they didn’t. That’s when he realized something, something awful. He then ran as fast as a 50-year-old man could back to his home in Cambridge. He stumbled into his home and found his wife in bed with their newborn Jebediah. Instead of going to bed, he ran to his office and wrote about what he saw. That’s when he realized, this was an act of revolt against the mighty British Empire. Mr. Caldwell was one of the only people that was still a loyalist in colonial Boston. Throughout the war, Mr. Caldwell was harassed. Not only was he a loyalist, but many thought he was crazy. He always claimed that the Tea Party was a signal. That something was hidden beneath. But nobody listened. He spent years writing about this until his death in 1805, when his family stored all of his letters away. But these letters, were the answer of how to save Boston.
October 18, 2023: Salt Lake City, Utah
Nolan Caldwell was partying at a fraternity house on the University of Utah campus. Music was blaring from speakers bought at Walmart as what seemed like half the campus was dancing in this tiny home. Nolan had just turned 21 and was having the time of his life. When he got a call on his phone. It was his brother. “Ugh,” Nolan though. His twin brother James was majoring at MIT. Both brothers had white skin, and brown hair. But James had glasses while Nolan elected for contacts. Nolan decided not to respond and kept dancing with his friends. That’s when it rang again. Nolan hung up.
“It’s an emergency, Nolan!” James texted. Nolan excused himself and walked out to the sidewalk. He called James.
“Oh my god, what took so long Nolan!” James exclaimed.
“Just tell me what this so called ‘emergency’ is,” Nolan said, annoyed.
“Mom fell down the stairs in the house, she’s in the emergency room at Massachusetts General.” James told him.
“What. Is she ok!” Nolan said, panicked.
“Yes, she should be okay the doctors said, but you should come home.” James pleaded.
“Okay I will be there tomorrow if possible,” Nolan said. Nolan hung up the phone and placed it in his pocket. “Hey, Nolan you coming back in?” Nolan’s friend, Robert, asked. “I can’t I got to go home to Massachusetts, take notes for me in my classes for me,” James told him. “I gotcha dude, go Utes!” Robert said before going back into the house. Nolan walked back to his dorm by the Fort Douglas military museum. That’s when he noticed a mysterious man dressed in black hiding in the shadows. The man appeared to be watching him. Nolan turned his head toward him.
“Hey dude, I’ve never seen you around here, ya new to Utah?” he yelled across the street. The man in black laughed and turned the corner. Nolan was confused for a moment, but just shrugged it off and kept going to his dorm. He unlocked the door with his key. The dorm was a small, cramped room with 2 beds flanking a plastic “desk” and a fold up the chair. On the desk was Nolans laptop, and lots of different scattered papers. They have a complicated relationship. James and Nolan were best friends, until 7th grade. Their middle school noticed something their elementary school hadn’t. James was a genius. He instantly jumped a grade and his parents adored that. James had made new friends and stopped hanging out with Nolan. This caused Nolan to become upset. He started to get bad grades, and by 9th grade the only college he was going to get into was Boston Community College. But he excelled at football. He was a great fast and nimble running back. So, he got a scholarship from the University of Utah to play for their football team. Meanwhile, James got a scholarship from MIT. The last time they had a real conversation was when they graduated from high school.
October 19, 2023: Boston Logan International Airport
Nolan walked into the airport from his plane. Nolan had only ever been to Logan International twice in his life. When his family went on a trip to Disney when he was 5, and when he left for Utah. In fact, those were the only times he had ever been to an airport. Completely out of his element, Nolan wandered around trying to find baggage claim. Nolan eventually found and made his way outside, where James was supposed to meet him.
“I’m waiting in front of gate B,” Nolan texted.
“Okay I am practically almost there, I’m in the white Audi,” James replied. Nolan looked around for him when he noticed a man leaned up against a pillar. The man looked eerily similar to the strange man from Utah. The man by the pillar made eye contact with Nolan, chuckled. And walked away. Nolan was about the run after him but then-HONK. Nolan turned towards the sound and saw James in a white Audi parked next to him. James rolled down the window. “Put the luggage in the back seat, the trunk is too small,” James instructed him. Nolan obliged and sat down next to him the front seat.
“How is Utah, Nolan?” James asked.
“Its fine,” Nolan said.
“Moms been watching your games on TV,” James told him. Nolan just shrugged and turned to his phone.
“Mom was released this morning, a person from the hospital is watching her for the day while I am gone. The hospital said that she experienced minor fractures in her legs, but she will most likely need a chair that goes up and down the steps for her. The nurse at the house was installing it, but she needs are help to move a wooden desk at the top of the stairs,” James said. Nolan just nodded in response. The rest of the car ride to their house in Cambridge was silence.
October 19, 2023: 128 Prospect Street, Cambridge Massachusetts
The Caldwell’s house was an old brick 2 story building with 3 bedrooms. From the outside the house looked incredibly old. And it was, the house was built by Jedediah Caldwell after almost everything in their old house burned down, except Jebediah’s fathers’ office. Everything that was left over from the old house, was in the new house. But when you walked inside it looked like every other house. The number of remodeling’s the Caldwell’s did to that house is over 12. Everything inside was new. Except George R. Caldwell’s desk. The old thing had sat by the top of the stairs for decades, but now it needed to be moved. After Nolan and James said hi to their mother and hugged and kissed her, they started moving the desk. They lifted it by both ends and were able to pick it up. But as they were trying to move into another room, their mom’s cat, Malt, bit James. James howled in pain and dropped his end of the desk. The desk clanged on the ground and a wooden drawer fell out. In the drawer where hundreds of papers that were now scattered across the room.
“Oh, look what you did!” Nolan screamed.
“Malt bit me!” James replied angered.
“Who is Malt?” Nolan asked annoyed. “Its moms cat. You really haven’t been here for so long, have you?” James asked. Nolan just turned away and started picking up the papers. That’s when he noticed, this weird symbols that looked like hieroglyphs.
“Hey, James come check this out,” Nolan said.
James walked over and gasped. “Woah. This is ancient Wampanoag text. They where the first people to live here in Boston, even before the British!” James said.
“What does it mean?” Nolan asked.
“I don’t know, but these papers looked hundreds of years old,” James said. He begun to search through the pile of papers and grabbed one and held it up. “Woah. Nolan look at this,” James said. Nolan walked over to the paper. The paper said:
George R Caldwell
December 17th, 1773
Today I have seen an unspeakable act. Men dressed as Wampanoag have just stormed a ship and threw the kings tea into the harbor. Not only was this a crime against the mighty British Empire, but this could also potentially spell doom for Boston. There is an ancient Indian prophecy that states that if 5 signs happen within 10 years, the city of Boston will come to an end in time. This is the last sign. The prophecy reads: “The final sign will be a complete disregard for property against a mighty power.” I don’t know what happens next, but I must tell the people of Boston.
“Woah, that’s crazy,” James said.
“Hah, I know who this is. This is the guy dad told us about, the guy in our family that was a British loyalist and was mentally insane. He believed that the Wampanoags had cursed the city of Boston when the British kicked them out. That if 5 signs happen Boston would crumble to the ground. But if the tea party was the final sign, its never going to happen. That was like 200 years ago!” Nolan laughed.
“But Nolan what if this is true,” James said.
“James, you are supposed to be the smart one in the family, hah!” Nolan laughed. James, a little hurt, kept searching through the papers and found a paper that read:
George R Caldwell
May 16th, 1805
I am on my deathbed, but I have finally discovered when this Great Doom rumored by the Indians, will happen. It will be 400 years after the great Wampanoag wizard died. He would curse anybody who wronged his tribe, including the British. His recorded death was way before this, but he remained in hiding for decades. His true death was October 22nd, 1623. The start of the Great Doom will be 4 days before the anniversary of his death.
“Oh no, read this Nolan,” James said. James passed the paper to Nolan.
“This can’t be true, no way Boston collapses in 4 days, wouldn’t something happen today,” Nolan said. Then the house started the shake. Their mom was watching the TV downstairs in her room when it was interrupted.
“Breaking News: The first recorded earthquake in Boston history is happening. Parts of the runway of Boston Logan International Airport are collapsing,” the news reporter yelled from the TV downstairs.
“This is the beginning of the end,” James said.
October 20, 2023: Concord, Massachusetts.
James and Nolan spent an entire day going around the city trying to tell people about the curse. Most people just wrote them off as conspiracy theorists. So, Nolan and James decided they needed to decipher the other papers with Wampanoag lettering. After doing some research they found a Wampanoag translator outside of Boston in Concord, Massachusetts. They walked into her small wooden house. Inside the house smelled like vanilla scented candles. The woman was waiting for them on her couch. “Please come in,” the woman said. “Are you Lynda?” James asked gingerly. “Yes, please sit, and hand me this paper you want me to translate,” Lynda said. Nolan handed her the paper. There was a good two minutes of silence of Nolan and James just starring at the woman at the couch. Finally, she stood up and read, “this says ‘A great purple monster will rise up from the ground. It will look like a tornado and will drag Boston back down to the underworld with him. The only way to stop him is to find the Great Heart. Hidden away in the under the center of the peninsula’.” Nolan and James just looked at each other, what the heck is the Great Heart? Nolan and James walked back into their car in the street. And started to drive home.
“This is ridiculous, what peninsula is even near us?” Nolan complained.
“Boston is a peninsula, at least it used to be. The entire Back Bay was added later after the British took over this place. The center of the peninsula is somewhere downtown. How did you not know that?” James said. Nolan started to turn red. The built-up trauma from his childhood was coming out.
“BECAUSE I AM NOT AS SMART AS YOU! I’m not you. I always wished I could be but I’m not. The truth is, I might get cut from Utah. I am failing too many of my classes. James, as a kid you left me. When you got smart you stopped hanging out with me. Our parents loved you, more than they did me,” Nolan said.
“Oh my god. Nolan I am so sorry, I never knew you felt that way. And I want you to know something. When dad died you where out in Utah. But the last thing he said to me was that he loved you and I, more than anything else. And mom was the one that asked that if you would come visit her in Cambridge. Mom and Dad loved you as equally as they do me. And Nolan, I will always be your friend,” James said. The rest of the car ride back was filled with tears, but it was necessary to fixing their relationship with each other.
When they got home, they discovered something they hadn’t realized before. On the back of the paper was a map of tunnels going under the city. According to the map there is a large main circular room in the center. “That must be where this Great Heart is,” Nolan said. James took a picture of it and used his computer to line it up with present day Boston. “Woah, the Great Heart, its under the Old State House,” James said.
October 20, 2023: Outside the Old Boston State House.
James and Nolan parked their car across the street from the building. The Old State House is a very historic building in Boston. It was very important to the Revolutionary war. Next to the state house was the site of the Boston Massacre, when British soldiers shot down multiple innocent Bostonians. James and Nolan walked inside the building. Inside you could tell the building was old but had been restored. James and Nolan snuck past the tour guides and towards the basement door. There was a large padlock on it and a sign saying, “RESTRICTED AREA”.
“Dang it, how the heck are we going to get in now?” James complained. Nolan looked around the floor and saw a paper clip.
“Perfect,” Nolan thought. Nolan took the paper click and wiggled it around in the lock until. Click. The padlock unlocked and fell to the floor.
“How did you do that. Is this illegal?” James said.
“You don’t want to know, and this isn’t illegal because its to save Boston,” Nolan said before grabbing the door nob and opening the door. The basement of the state house was used to hold old museum exhibits and more. Fake muskets were lined up against the wall and labeled crates sat on the floor. But no heart.
“Where could it be,” Nolan asked. James looked back at the map of the tunnels.
“I knew it wouldn’t be that easy,” James said. “Find something heavy or sharp and start mining through that brick wall,” James said. Nolan found a crate labeled cannon. He pried open the lid and found a cannon ball. He picked it up and hurled it at the wall. BANG. “Great idea,” James thought. He tried throwing a ball, but it was too heavy for him, so he just passed it to Nolan, who preceded to hurl it at the wall again. After 4 more throws at the wall, they had opened a small hole in the wall. Nolan saw 3 crowbars in the corner of the room. He grabbed one for himself and gave the other to James. James and Nolan used it to make the hole larger in the wall. After about 10 minutes it was big enough for them to fit through. The walked through and it revealed an underground temple. In the heart of the room was a pedestal with a small wooden crate on top of it. Nolan and James both carefully walked towards the crate. Nolan picked it up. But he didn’t realize that it would be incredibly hot. As soon as he picked it up, he dropped it on the floor, and it smashed open.
“Woah, that’s hot!” Nolan screamed. After the dust settled it revealed a red marble ball. James took off his shoes and his socks. He then put the socks on his hands.
“Give me your socks, Nolan,” James asked.
“Why, they’re my socks!” He replied back.
“Because I need them so I can pick up the marble and I won’t get burned.” James said.
Nolan reluctantly obliged and gave James his socks. James than picked up the marble ball. He then noticed a crack going through the middle of it. They pulled apart the 2 marble pieces and unveiled, a red ball of light. But as soon as they opened it, it started to wither away, out the chamber, and up the basement stairs. “Hey come back!” Nolan and James screamed in sync. Nolan started to chase after it and James followed, even if he didn’t stand a chance of catching up to Nolan, the running back. Nolan followed it out of the basement and through the museum. Guests and tour guides gasped at the site of two men chasing what appeared to be nothing. The red mist slipped under the door and outside. Nolan and James burst through the door and continued to follow. But James’ athletic incompetence had begun to catch up with him.
“I can’t go anymore but keep going!” James yelled, exhausted. Nolan kept running, weaving through cars, and blazing past pedestrians. He followed it all the way down State Street and to the New England Aquarium. The mysterious mist burst into the Aquarium and so did Nolan. Ticket officials and security personnel at the front doors tried grabbing at him. But they didn’t realize he played football. Nolan hurdled a tall blonde man and stiffed arm a ticket officer into the wall. Visitors of the aquarium gasped from shock. Nolan was finally closing in on the mist. The mist turned into the gift shop and Nolan thought “I finally got it.” He leaped through the air and felt the mist in his hands, and then he smashed into a pile of plushy penguins. The penguins he laned on and turned red. He looked around. “Where was the mist?” He wondered. Then he saw the penguin. He had trapped the mist in the penguin. “Yes, I got it,” Nolan screamed from excitement.
“Yeah, and we got you,” a security office said while holding handcuffs. Nolan was arrested, but he still had the red penguin in his clutches.
October 20, 2023: Boston PD 1st Precinct.
The police had taken Nolan from the aquarium gift shop and to the police station. There he was questioned by the officers and deemed crazy. He was thrown in a cell and waited for 30 minutes, as James tried to figure out what had happened to his brother.
“You’ve been bailed out,” a tall police said in a deep voice. The office grabbed his keys and unlocked the door.
“Did my brother James come to get me, or did my mom,” Nolan asked.
“What? No, your friend from college did, uh… Desine Nunc,” the officer replied.
“What,” Nolan wondered. As the officer escorted him to the main lobby, Nolan looked around. That’s when he saw it. A man dressed in black was standing across the street in the shadow of a skyscraper. It was the same man from Utah, and the airport. Nolan was freed from his handcuffs and walked across the street toward the man. He chuckled and turned the corner. But when he turned around, Nolan saw 3 yellow letter on the back of his coat. The coat read “FBI”.
October 16, 2023: FBI Massachusetts, Chelsea, Massachusetts.
Agent Dunwood had just sat down at his desk on the 3rd floor, when he was told he was needed by the director. Dunwood made his way to her office on the top floor. The office was modern with large glass windows facing toward the Boston skyline. When Agent Dunwood arrived Division Director Marshall was furiously typing away on her computer. Then she looked up at Agent Dunwood.
“Ah good, you are here. You have an assignment from Washington. One that I’m not even able to look at.” The director spoke. She then slid a file across her desk. Agent Dunwood grabbed it. You see, Agent Dunwood was a transfer from the FBI headquarters to Chelsea. He had previous experience with the CIA but that was classified to everybody else at FBI Massachusetts. To them he worked in analytics. In reality he worked in quieting conspiracy theories. Sometimes, certain conspiracy theories are true, and sometimes the US Government doesn’t want the public to know about them. Sometimes it comes down to complete silencing. Agent Dunwood opened the file at his desk and read all about it. It was the story of a Mr. George R Caldwell, and a curse cast over Boston. Apparently, this had been a secret held throughout America’s history. Before America was founded, the British wanted to keep quite about this curse. So, to make sure nobody would find the Great Heart, they built the Old State House above it. But one man named George R. Caldwell had come in touch with some Wampanoags and learned about the story of the curse. He tried telling people, but nobody listened. When America was founded, they also wanted to keep it a secret so nobody would lose trust in the new nation. So, they sent out spies to discreetly poison Mr. Caldwell and kill him before he would publish anything that he wrote. Agent Dunwood’s mission was to find the relatives of Mr. George R. Caldwell, and make sure they don’t spread this conspiracy theory. And if they do, he had permission to interfere. He did some research on the family and bought plane tickets to Utah.
October 20, 2023: Charles River Dam Bridge: Boston, Massachusetts.
“So, you’re telling me this whole time an FBI agent has been stalking you?” James asked.
“Yes, I promise you,” Nolan responded. “Do you know his name?” James asked.
“It was like Desine Nunc, or something like that.” Nolan said.
“Wait, that’s Latin for ‘Stop Now’. I took Latin in high school. He’s trying to send us a message.” James said, “He doesn’t want us to save Boston. But we must do this because who else will do it for-.” BOOM! The bottom of the car felt like it was erupting to James and Nolan. The car launched in the air and soared off the bridge and into the water. Splash! James and Nolan both panicked. Nolan unbuckled his seat belt first and looked over at his brother to find him unconscious. Nolan swam over and unbuckled his brother. Click. The buckle flew across the water as Nolan tried to pick James up. Thud. The car had bit the bottom of the river. Nolan swam out the car holding James and looked up. “The surface is 15 feet up,” Nolan thought. He swam up but halfway but then he ran out of air but kept swimming. Nolan felt his head started to swell like a balloon, as his lungs felt like they were going to pop. Nolan eyes started flickering open and closed, until it all went black.
Meanwhile watching from a distance was FBI Agent Dunwood, holding a detonator for a bomb.
October 22, 2023: Massachusetts General Hospital: Boston, Massachusetts
James woke up to the sound a news person. “A series of earthquakes have hit Boston today. Each earthquake being about a two magnitude, also on top of this a large storm is expected to make landfall downtown in about two hours. The earthquakes have caused the Charles River Dam Bridge to collapse. The earthquakes have caused damage in Suffolk, Norfolk, and Middlesex counties.” The reporter blurted out. James looked around to find Nolan in a hospital bed next to him. Then, a nurse walked into the room.
“Uh, what day is it?” James asked the nurse.
“Its October 22nd,” she said.
“Oh no. The Great Doom is today, that storm in an hour must be the Doom. I got to get out of here.” James thought in his head.
“How long have I been out for?” James asked.
“You and your brother have been in a coma for 2 days since you crashed your car into the Charles River,” the nurse responded before leaving the room. As soon as she left, James jumped out of the bed. He unplugged the machine monitoring his heart so it wouldn’t alert the nurses. He ran over to Nolan and started shaking him to wake up. Nolan’s eyes flickered open.
“What’s going on,” Nolan drowsily said.
“The Great Doom! Follow me,” James said before grabbing Nolan by the wrist and yanking him out of the hospital bed. James also grabbed the red penguin that contained the Great Heart. But James forgot to unplug the machine. BEEP. James and Nolan heard footsteps coming down the hallway. James knew he wasn’t getting out of here without Nolan’s athletic ability. But Nolan was still half asleep. James looked around the room for anything that would give Nolan energy. Meanwhile, the footsteps in the hallway got louder. That’s when James realized, their room was only on the 2nd floor. He looked at the window. It was till about a 7-foot drop. But in the alleyway was an ambulance. If they land on the ambulance, it will break their fall. James looked around for something to break the window with, that’s when he saw the heart monitor machine. He shoved it towards the window. The machine instantly broke the entire glass window and fell into the alley. CRASH! James ran towards the window with Nolan holding on to his shoulders. James and Nolan jumped out just in time to avoid the nurses running into the room. Thud. The both crash landed on top of the ambulance. That’s when the earth started to rumble beneath them. Now, Nolan was awake, and he was clearly panicking.
“What the heck is going on!” Nolan screamed.
James then explained the whole situation to him during the earthquake. Shortly after his explanation the ambulance began to move.
“Uh oh, where are we going?” James asked. The ambulance turned out of the alley way towards downtown Boston.
“Ok we need to jump off, 1, 2, 3!” Nolan said. They both leaped off the ambulance and into the street.
“Ow! My nose. Its broken!” James complained.
“Come on, let’s move.” Nolan said holding the penguin. They ran to downtown, where the news said the storm was expected to hit. And if the news was correct, the storm was coming soon. When they finally arrived in downtown, they realized the clouds didn’t look normal. They were purple.
“This definitely isn’t a normal storm!” Nolan said worried.
October 22, 2023, 5 minutes until the Great Doom: City Hall Plaza, Boston Massachusetts.
The clouds thundered above as people around James and Nolan ran towards cars to leave the area.
“Are you ready for this James!” Nolan enthusiastically said. As the clouds crept in on City Hall.
“No, no you’re not, put the penguin down Caldwell!” yelled a voice behind them. Nolan and James both turned around the see Agent Dunwood holding a gun. “This is the end of the road, put the penguin down, RIGHT NOW!” Dunwood screamed across the courtyard. “You are under arrest for treason against the United States of America!”
“No, why do you want us to stop! We’re trying to save the city!” James yelled.
“Because Boston was never meant to succeed. The government is already evacuating people out. The government wants this storm to happen, they knew there was no way to stop this. Now leave now before you scare the public even more!” Dunwood yelled determined.
“They should be scared, this is real. And we can stop this!” James screamed.
“Uh, FBI guy you might want to look behind you,” Nolan said. The reason he said that is because a purple being had just crept down from the sky on to Cambridge Street.
“Nice try, Caldwell!” Dunwood yelled. Little did he know that would be the last thing he would say. The being on Cambridge Street looked like a purple tornado, but with arms. It swept Agent Dunwood from the street and chucked him in to the swirling purple mass.
October 22, 2023: The Great Doom: City Hall Plaza: Boston, Massachusetts
The Great Doom was upon the city of Boston and had already claimed its first victim. The Great Doom was tearing up the plaza. The curved shaped building across the street from the plaza was swallowed up.
“Throw the penguin!” James commanded to Nolan. Nolan got into his windup motion, but then the storm grabbed Nolan and chucked him across the plaza. James ran to his aid before he was picked up and thrown to the other side of the plaza. James got up and ran towards Nolan. Nolan was bleeding from all limbs and holding the penguin in one hand.
“Take the penguin, James,” Nolan told him.
“No, I can’t throw that far, you have to do it,” James told Nolan. James helped Nolan up as the Great Doom was focused on destroying the John F. Kennedy federal building. Under where the Great Doom used to be a purple goo like acid that was eating through the ground. James took Nolan towards City Hall when the Doom turned around.
“RUN!” James screamed. But it was too late, the storm hurled a purple fireball straight at them knocking them apart as they both went different directions. But, when this happened, they were both holding the penguin, so when the storm hit them, the penguin ripped in half. The red dust flew high up into the air. James looked up and realized that the penguin had ripped then they saw the red dust somehow grow, it grew into a person. No, not a person, a god. The red being was now the size of a skyscraper, like the Great Doom, and it was holding a giant staff with a red heart on the top of it.
“Your cursing days are over, don’t hurt this beautiful city,” the red god spoke. The Great Doom responded with a fire ball, that the god caught and threw into the harbor. SPLASH! James and Nolan ran to the steps of City Hall, to see if they where both ok, and watch the fight that was happening above them. The red god than shoved the Great Doom into a skyscraper using magic from its spear. The Great Doom landed on the skyscraper causing it to collapse. From the collapse, a thick layer of dust covered the city, including James and Nolan.
“I can’t see anything,” James yelled. BOOM!
“What was that sound?” Nolan asked. CRASH!
Nolan and James were completely blinded and didn’t realize the fight was coming to them. The Great Doom was fighting back, and it had pushed the Red God towards the plaza. The Great Doom fired a fire ball and missed, but the ball went hurling into city hall. The building then exploded, and debris flew everywhere. A piece of debris hit Nolan in the head. Clang!
“What was that, are you okay Nolan!” James asked. No response. “Nolan!” James screamed. But his scream could not be heard. The city was collapsing, and it didn’t matter that the Red God was fighting the Great Doom, their fight was still destroying the city.
The dust had finally settled, and James could see after 10 minutes of blindness. He looked around and saw a collapsed city around him, but no giant gods. He looked around and then he realized they were fighting over the harbor.
“I have to do something,” James’s thought. He ran to Nolan to find him knocked out.
“This is for you Nolan,” he said. James ran toward the remains of the penguin and realized it was still a little red. He picked it up and tried putting it back together. That’s when it immediately fused perfectly back together. That’s when James realized he must throw it at the Great Doom. He ran faster then he ever had towards the harbor. He looked out and saw the fight. He needed to throw it farther then he ever would. He tried to remember Nolan throwing a football, but he couldn’t. Then he remembered that throwing is Math. He must get the right angle. He got the right angle and used all of his strength. The penguin soared through the sky and above the harbor. And straight to the Great Doom. The ground started to rumble as the two fighting gods turned into a bright ball of white light, that then ball expanded toward James and swept him off his feet as the world turned white.
November 22, 2023: Carl’s Pub, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
James was watching the Boston College vs. Harvard game. It was to commemorate the 1-month anniversary of the Great Boston Tornado. That’s right, the government covered up what it actually was. But James, was okay with that, because his life was better than ever. Because James and Nolan were finally close again. Nolan had transferred to Boston College to play football there while James was tutoring him so he could get better grades. And they both had dinner at their moms house every Sunday.
“TOUCHDOWN!” the pub screamed. Everybody at the pub was happy about that except James. Because now James was a Boston College fan. Meanwhile everybody else was happy because the Carl’s Pub was two blocks from the Harvard Campus. But James would get his chance to cheer. Because his brother was the punt returner. Nolan caught the punt and ran and kept going. He was juking, hurdling and running through defenders.
“Oh my god, are you seeing this Nolan Caldwell kid!” The announcers yelled “50, 40, 30, 20, 10, TOUCHDOWN! Boston College!”
“YES! That’s my brother!” James yelled. The camera then zoomed in on Nolan, who winked to his brother James.
The End.
October 22, 2023: Boston Harbor, Boston Massachusetts.
A hand appeared from the murky waters of Boston Harbor. The hand reached up onto Boston’s rocky shores. It was then followed by an arm, then an entire body. The body that climbed out of the harbor was wearing a coat with three yellow letters on the back of it. The letters read “FBI”.
